Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-10 · last updated 10 October 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are the agreement between you and us about Shardcrown, the online game at this website ("the game"). Please read them: by creating an account you accept them.
1. Who we are
Shardcrown is run by [Company name], registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number [KvK number], VAT number [VAT number (btw-id)], [Postal address] ("we", "us"). Contact: [Contact email].
2. Who may play
- You must be 16 or older to create an account. If you are younger, you may not play.
- You must be 18 or older to buy anything (section 8). By buying you confirm that you are.
- One person, one account. You may not share, sell, buy or transfer an account.
3. Your account
- Keep your password and your linked sign-ins (Google, Discord) safe. You are responsible for what happens on your account.
- Tell us at [Contact email] if you think someone else has access to it.
- Your username and character name must not be offensive, impersonate someone else or contain personal data of others.
4. Rules of conduct
Shardcrown is a shared world. You agree not to:
- Cheat or bot: use scripts, macros, bots, modified clients, automated requests or anything else that plays for you or gives you an advantage other players don't have; exploit bugs instead of reporting them.
- Abuse alt accounts: run several accounts to feed one, to win wars or ladders, to farm rewards or to get around a sanction.
- Manipulate the market: wash trades, price-fixing schemes with alts, or moving value between accounts to dodge the game's limits.
- Trade for real money: buy or sell accounts, marks, items or services for money or anything outside the game (see section 7).
- Harass other players: threats, hate speech, discrimination, sexual content, doxxing (sharing someone's personal data), stalking or spam, in chat, messages, profiles, faction pages or anywhere else.
- Attack, overload or probe the service, or try to reach other people's accounts or data.
We may hide messages, mute, suspend or close accounts that break these rules, depending on how serious it is and whether it happened before. We tell you why; you can appeal once per sanction from the game (or by email). Proven cheating, real-money trading, fraud or serious harassment can lead to a permanent ban without a warning first. Items, marks and progress gained by breaking the rules may be removed.
5. Your content
Things you write in the game (chat, messages, profile texts, faction pages) stay yours. You give us the right to store and show them in the game to the people you sent them to, for as long as needed to run the game and enforce these Terms. Don't post anything you have no right to post.
6. The game changes
Shardcrown is a live game, now in a playtest. We change it all the time: balance, prices, rewards, systems, the map.
- Characters persist. We don't wipe characters as part of normal play.
- Seasons: seasonal ladders, season tracks and season points reset at the end of every season, as announced in the game.
- If we ever must reset or wipe progress (for example at the end of the playtest), we announce it in the news at least 30 days ahead, unless a serious bug or abuse forces us to act sooner.
- We may stop the game. If we do, we announce it at least 60 days ahead and stop selling at once (see the refund policy for what happens to running memberships).
7. Virtual items have no money value
Marks, Glimmers, items, cosmetics, mounts, titles and every other thing in the game are a limited, personal licence to use digital content inside the game. They are not your property, have no monetary value, can't be exchanged for money or anything outside the game, and can't be cashed out. Glimmers can't be bought separately and never turn into marks. Selling or buying accounts, marks or items for real money anywhere is forbidden (section 4).
8. Purchases
- Playing is free. We may sell membership, a season pass, a founders' pack and gifts of these. Nothing we sell makes you stronger or faster than the best you can earn by playing. We never sell chests, keys or anything with a random reward.
- Payments are handled by Paddle.com, our reseller and Merchant of Record: Paddle is the seller of every order, handles the payment, the invoice, VAT and payment questions. Paddle's own buyer terms apply to the payment.
- Prices are shown including VAT. A subscription renews until you cancel it; you can cancel any time and keep it until the end of the paid period.
- Gifts go to the account of the player you choose; once delivered they belong to that player.
- Right of withdrawal and refunds: see our Refund Policy, which is part of these Terms.
9. Ending your account
You may stop playing and delete your account at any time (Account page in the game, or email us). We may suspend or close an account under section 4, or if the law requires it. Purchases on a closed account are handled as the Refund Policy says.
10. Liability
- We provide the game "as is" and do our best to keep it running, fair and secure, but we can't promise it is always available or free of bugs.
- We are not liable for loss of virtual items, progress or in-game value, or for indirect damage, unless caused by our intent or gross negligence.
- Our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the damage, or €50 if that is more.
- Nothing in these Terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be limited by agreement.
11. Privacy
How we handle your personal data is in our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may change these Terms. For a change that matters, we tell you in the game and ask you to accept the new version before you go on playing; if you don't accept, you may delete your account (and the Refund Policy applies to a running membership).
13. Law and disputes
Dutch law applies. Disputes go to the competent court in the Netherlands, unless the consumer law of your country gives you the right to go to a court where you live. Please contact us first at [Contact email]: most things can be solved by talking.
